A book launch and exhibition by Annosh Urbanke

WARNING: Due to the coronavirus this exhibition has been postponed. Follow Patty Morgan for more information.

‘You Press the Button, We Do the Rest’ refers to an advertised slogan that went hand in hand with the launch of Kodak’s very first compact camera. The so-called ‘kodakization’ emerged in the United States and Western Europe since the beginning of 1900, together with Kodak’s promotion of places and accompanying experiences that visually fit the ‘Kodak moment’.

Using Kodak’s standardizations and cliché imaging as a starting point, Annosh explores nostalgic and contemporary forms of tourism. Big groups of people with gadgets, cameras, and other typical attributes paint a specific picture that is connected to this age, and tells its story.

In her photo installation Annosh Urbanke takes a close, attentive look at the contours of tourism in urban landscapes.

The opening of the exhibition and the official launch for the accompanying book take place on Friday March 13 in Patty Morgan (Schaafstraat 21, 1021 KD Amsterdam)

Gijsje Heemskerk, Kim David Bots and Lyckle de Jong will perform during the opening, bringing their instruments, sounds, and voices.

The exhibition can be visited in Patty Morgan until March 27, visit by appointment.

This project is supported by MAMA’s NETWORKS programme.
