Safe Space is a project by Dean Blunt that transforms Showroom MAMA into an exclusive screening room and public lounge. MAMA’s showroom is temporary deprived of it’s costumary art context and regular visual identity. The project, which runs from Friday 22 April to 19 June, forms an open-ended experiment and asks: who feels welcome at MAMA?

Unfortunately, we regret to announce that our collaboration with Dean Blunt has ended prematurely since MAMA and Blunt have not been able to reach a productive dialogue.

Blunt curated a daily (unannounced) film programme for the exclusive screening room, this will not be continued due to the end of our collaboration. However MAMA has decided to keep Safe Space open, and we still support the experiment and see the potential of its continuation. Therefore, we are outsourcing the film programme to you, the public.

MAMA welcomes everyone to submit material for showing on the screening room’s big screen. All submissions are accepted unless they contain illegal content. Please send your selected or self-made films to safespace@showroommama.nl. We accept files via email, wetransfer or download links. Once submitted, you will receive an email informing you of the date and time of your film screening.

About HOME

HOME is the leitmotiv by which we encourage conversation about conceptions regarding belonging, representation and identification. HOME is a fundament, the place you return to and anchorpoint for the journey onward. HOME (offline as well as online) is the start of feeling connect to others. Under the name HOME we also present exhibitions in the showroom of MAMA. In collaboration with young makers we express interpretations about HOME | IN REAL LIFE | NETWORKS.
