Hard Pop Internationale: Germans & Angry Black Bitches
It started with the simple question: "Why would a white European artist produce works dealing with black rap culture given all the implications of this action?"
The resulting project, curated by Ken Pratt, is a continuation of MAMA’s (sub)cultural research works that began in 2001 with “Hard Pop”. In the show and publication of that year -“Hard Pop”- MAMA sought to examine how the visible preoccupation with Punk in mainstream culture at that time.
The second project “Hard Pop Internationale: Germans & Angry Black Bitches” scrutinises the relationship between artistic practice in German(ic) language cultural areas and minority club and (sub)cultures, including black rap culture.
The project takes on a form of an exhibition at MAMA, performances, open discussion and a publication.
Curated by Ken Pratt with the contribution of Wolf von Waldow
