MAMA collaborated in the last couple of months with EASTPAK on an EASTPAK ARTIST STUDIO. Various artists, designers and artists were invited to design a bag with a unique signature.

The bags will be presented during the RAW ART FAIR in Rotterdam in an installation designed by artist collective OONA. They will be sold from March 19, 2012. All proceeds from the EASTPAK Artist studio will be donated to Designers Against Aids. Designers Against Aids (DAA) was founded in 2004 by the non-profit organisation Beauty Without Irony. The main objective of DAA is to make people aware of HIV / AIDS and to keep the problem on the international agenda; both in the media and the general public.

Come and see the designs by Wayne Horse, Otto Snoek, Chris Kabel, Marc Bijl, Silver Surfering Rudeboy, Maxim Hartman, Nare Eloyan, Wyne Veen, Marga Weimans, The People of the Labyrinths, Carve, Abner Preis, Remi Tjon Ajong , Faberyayo, Richard Hutten, Klaas Rommelaere, Toykyo, Atelier 11, Muschi Kreuzberg and Max Gatto.

Read here to get an impression of Maxim Hartman and Richard Hutten about the inspiration for the design of their bags, ‘bucket lists’ and safe sex.

Maxim Hartman painted two bags with yellow, blue and black. The bags are covered with paint so they are not waterproof, but they are still very useful to carry your stuff around.

1) What has been your inspiration for the EASTPAK Artist Studio Bag(s)?
– I think I got the inspiration from the municipal waste.

2) Which city do you live in – can you tell us what it’s best kept secret is?
– I really have no idea

3) When was the last time you did something for the first time?
 Hopefully tomorrow

4) Can you name three major things on your ‘bucketlist’ – three things you want to realize before you ‘kick the bucket’…
– No, I can’t do that. But I really want to take a ride on a mountain bike and file the tax of 2010.

5) The proceeds from the sales of your bag will go entirely to Designers Against AIDS – what are your views on safe sex?
– That’s rather changing

6) Do you personally think that this is still important?
– Is it difficult to say no right?

Richard Hutten made a pink bag with copper rings through the zippers and of a latex material. Which then it is very good again when it rains. Who does it very well when it rains.

1) What has been your inspiration for the EASTPAK Artist Studio Bag(s)?

– Today

– No have. Things happen before they are on the list.

5) The proceeds from the sales of your bag will go entirely to Designers Against AIDS? What are your views on safe sex? Do you personally think it’s still important?
– You don’t want to die of something which gives so much pleasure, so use a condom, unless you got tested!
