What follows the heartbreak: Grief Dinner
How can we care for the grief that lives in and between our bodies?
You are warmly invited to the third edition of the grief dinner: an evening that offers space to tend to our grieving bodies, together. This dinner is part of What Follows the Heartbreak, the current exhibition at MaMA, programmed by Mitsitron.
After a short introduction and gentle guidance, a four-course vegetarian dinner will be served, which we will eat in silence. Each dish mirrors a different aspect of grief and contains flowers and plants that are considered ‘grief allies’ in herbalism. Each dish is also accompanied by a question that you can reflect on, write about, or simply carry with you throughout the evening.
The dinner invites you to explore grief through taste, digestion, and the body, while making space for grieving as something that can be both deeply personal and shared. It can be experienced as a meditation on grief – and how grieving lives not only inside our emotions and psyche, but in and around our bodies too.
The dinner will be vegetarian. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate allergies or dietary intolerances; dishes may contain nuts, dairy, and gluten. Spaces are limited, so we can tend to everyone with care. Please feel free to reach out if you feel curious but hesitant.
The grief dinner is hosted by flora valeska woudstra with support from Zachary Pattinama.
