Perfectly copied children's drawings, humorous and comforting bicycle stickers, socially involved bare buttocks, dark crusades full of hopelessness and violently provocative opera.
Five idiosyncratic Rotterdam artists: Tijs van Bakel, Tessa Biemans, Lisa Blaauwbroek, Peter Vianen and Jacco Weener, all with a love for drawing, have been brought together by Chantal van Lieshout to work towards a short exhibition at Showroom MAMA. Whether it is the similarities or the differences that connect them will be examined in the week leading up to the exhibition. The artists will go on a bicycle trip together in the vicinity of Rotterdam. Van Lieshout is to link the works of the artists together with old and new work, basing her artistic ideas on insights gained during this trip. Whether the trip results in deepening friendship bonds or personality clashes between the artists, new friendships are bound to emerge.

Kunstfietstocht stop #5: The exhibition is part of an Art Bike Tour that brings Chantal van Lieshout to various art institutions in the Netherlands. Van Lieshout cycles from location to location. At each location she works on a project for one or two weeks with the help of local artists, resulting in an exhibition or workshop. The art bike tour is made possible by the Mondriaan Fonds, financer and driving force behind the visual arts and heritage sector in the Netherlands.
