Window Exhibition: Behind Closed Doors
From 9 to 19 January you can see the work of İpek Şahin in the showroom windows on Witte de Withstraat.
The series of works oscillate between mystery and oversharing, by blurring the lines between personal and public space. The works give you a peek into an existence behind the windows, where you can only recognize as much as you recognize your own.
İpek Şahin (she/they) is a Turkish visual artist and illustrator. She mainly works with archiving and collecting materials, turning them into mixed media fabric artworks. They depict everyday objects and their signifiers with the memories attached to them. In doing so, Ipek explores their personal relationships through and with the objects around them by bringing meanings to surface.
