On the point

Make your voice heard. Tell your story.

Feijenoord – a unique part of town, incomparable to other neighbourhoods, full of beautiful stories, from bold narratives to intimate revelations. A place that remains unfinished. We are looking for the young storytellers of Feijenoord for the On the Point project.

Read more about the project or sign up before February 8th by using the form below. For questions regarding the project send us an email or please call 010 233 2022. A downloadable version (in Dutch only) of the flyer  – for printing or forwarding – can be found here.

We are looking for people, aged between 20 and 28, who can expressively articulate themselves, people who see their environment differently to others. People not afraid to visually share their observations and ideas with the world. Together, with up to seven other creative minds, you will form a collective for a year to explore how Feijenoord relates to the changing city of Rotterdam. The ultimate goal is to jointly tell a visual story in which your own voice will be heard. It is up to you what form this story takes; from exhibition to music video, from fashion show to graffiti piece, from film to performance. What is told and where is up to you. Of course, we shall support you as much as possible in realising your vision.

During the project, you will work with three Rotterdam coaches: artist Gyz La Rivière, spoken word artist Carina Fernandes, and socially engaged designer Annemarie van den Berg. A programme of workshops, master classes, trips, conversations, living room sessions, and excursions is designed to immerse you in Feijenoord. You also receive master classes from experts, such as artist Sandim Mendes, theatremaker Y.M.P. and documentary maker and photographer Stacii Samidin. More names will be announced soon! Alongside the experiences you gain of Rotterdam, you also visit cities in Belgium, England, and Macedonia, where they are working on similar projects. International inspiration! Pretty cool, hey?

Have your say within this Rotterdam story! Participation is free – we finance the excursions and international trips. Alongside the international trips, you spend about half a day per week working on the project. The deadline for registration is 8 February 2019. The programme runs from the end of February 2019 to November 2019.

On The Point is a partnership between Belgian, Dutch, British, and Macedonian social and cultural organisations, who have joined forces to address socio-cultural challenges that occur in rapidly changing cities today. In a two-year programme co-funded by Creative Europe, we shall recruit and mobilise an international network of young creatives with the aim of setting up a structural exchange based on co-creation.
